Neal Recreation Center After-School Program

Our affordable program is designed to complement and support Bryan ISD curriculum, offering a balanced blend of educational support, physical activity, creativity and social development in a safe and supervised environment.

The program consists of:

  • Homework Assistance and Tutoring: Dedicated time and support for completing homework assignments. Participants have an opportunity to receive academic tutoring to review material from school.
  • Physical Activities: Structured outdoor play, sports, and games, to promote physical health, coordination and teamwork skills.

Transportation is not provided.

  • Dates: Jan. 7 – May 15
  • Days / Times: Monday – Friday, 3 – 6 p.m.
  • Closed: Program is not offered during Bryan ISD Student Holiday Breaks: Jan. 6 & 19; Feb. 16; March 9-13; and April 3 & 6
  • Monthly Fee: $40 Residents | $50 Non-Residents

School Holiday Camp

Need a safe and fun place for your child to go during school holidays? Sign them up for our School Holiday Camp where they will get to hang out with their own age group and participate in age-appropriate activities that include arts, crafts, educational programs, structure outdoor place, games, sports and more.

  • Ages: 5 – 12
  • Dates: Feb. 16; March 9 -13 & April 6
  • Days / Times: Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Daily Fee: $10 Residents | $15 Non-Residents

Babysitter’s Training

American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training teaches essential babysitting and child care skills. Participants learn how to safely care for children and infants through hands-on activities, videos and guided discussions focused on real-life situations. Course topics include child safety, feeding and diapering, holding and supervising children, positive behavior guidance, basic first aid skills and how to respond confidently in emergencies.

Participants earn a 10-year certification upon successful completion. First Aid, CPR and AED certification are not included. Enrollment is limited to 10 participants.

Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED Course

This American Red Cross certification course teaches aspiring babysitters how to respond to pediatric emergencies, including choking, bleeding, overdose and shock, as well as CPR and AED use. Enrollment is limited to 10 participants. Upon successful completion, participants earn a two-year certification.

Register for Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED 

Fundamental Football is a beginner-level program that introduces children to the structure and basics of organized football. Participants practice essential skills, including passing, catching, footwork, offense, defense and communication, through organized drills and games. The program emphasizes learning and confidence-building rather than competition. Age-appropriate football equipment is provided. Participants should wear athletic clothing suitable for outdoor play and getting dirty. Personal gloves or cleats are allowed.

Register for Fundamental Football

Start Smart Sports prepares children and builds their confidence for organized sports without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt. Age-appropriate equipment is used to teach basic skills of the specific sport. Participants are encouraged to wear athletic clothes that are easy to move around in. Different drills and games will be used every week to teach different facets of the game. Parents or guardians are encouraged to participate with their child.

Start Smart Basketball

Prepares participants with the basic motor skills necessary to play organized basketball while also teaching dribbling/ball handling, passing/catching, shooting and running/agility.

Start Smart Soccer

Participants will learn kicking, dribbling, trapping, throw-ins and agility.

Start Smart Baseball / Softball

Participants will learn throwing, catching, batting, running and agility for organized tee ball, baseball and softball.
