Leonard-Groesbeck Road Widening
City Job No. 332-411-425-611-DE-2417
As development continues to expand on the west side of Bryan, improving transportation infrastructure is important to keep the community connected and moving safely. The Leonard/Groesbeck project is part of the City’s effort to support this growth by upgrading a key roadway that serves residents, businesses, and daily commuters.
The project area extends along Leonard Road / Groesbeck Road from Harvey Mitchell Parkway (FM 2818) to the recently constructed roundabout at Palasota and Groesbeck, covering approximately two miles. This corridor currently consists of an asphalt roadway with roadside drainage ditches and overhead and underground utilities.
Planned upgrades will modernize the roadway to better serve current and future needs. The project includes reconstruction of the existing roadway to wider concrete streets with a sidewalk and a shared use path improve safety and accessibility for all users. Drainage improvements are also planned, replacing existing open roadside ditches with curb and guttered streets that convey water to underground storm sewer system to enhance stormwater reliability and reduce maintenance.
The project is being coordinated with Texas Department of Transportation, as Leonard Road connects directly to FM 1688 at Harvey Mitchell Parkway. This coordination helps ensure that improvements align with future roadway projects in the area.
